How many times have you heard an internet guru telling you “the money is in the list”? The truth is, they are right. You need a large and active list to be successful, but you also need a solid plan to build that business.

Unfortunately, telling you that you need a big and active list is not the same thing as telling HOW to build that big list that is filled with active customers.

Fortunately there is a very easy way to build a list and get a ton of targeted traffic to your site called “article marketing” and it is not as difficult as you think.

As a website owner, there is no better form of free advertising than writing and posting short articles that relate to your website.

At the end of every article you write, you should create what is known as a “resource” box. This resource box includes a short bio on you and your website and a link to your site that the reader can follow.

So let’s say you wrote an article that gave your reader some type of helpful information on a subject that is relevant to your website. After you have completed the article you would submit it to the thousands of article directories that may be available in your niche.

Now here’s the cool part. By adding a link back to your website in your resource box, readers will follow that link back to your site and the search engines will increase your page rank.

Another great benefit to submitting articles to article directories is that it helps to brand you as an authority on your subject. You become the guru.

It’s important to write your article using good, clear English. You want to sound like an authority on your subject, so you’ll need to be sure your article contains great information designed to help people.

Writing your own articles is really not that difficult if you are witting about a subject you are familiar with, but if you are uncomfortable with writing, hire a freelance writer. You will be surprised at how quickly and cheaply they can complete these articles for you.

One of the nicest parts of article marketing is that you know that anyone reading your article is already interested in your topic. If they find the information in your article helpful or interesting, they will click on the link in your resource box and arrive at your site. Once they are there, you need to be ready for them.

When they arrive at your page, you are going to want to entice them to join your mailing list. The best way to do this is to offer them something of value, like a free ebook, or some other offer they will find interesting.

When your visitors join your mailing list, you have access to be able to contact them in future when you have a new product to launch or a great affiliate offer to tell them about.

Now that you understand the power of article marketing, go out and make it a part of your everyday marketing efforts.
