Visiting forums and Google Groups is a simple and good way to become successful in affiliate marketing. These places are where your prospects hang out. Create a user ID at a couple of forums and/or join a relevant Google group. Don’t try and sell your products to anyone at first – just hang out and listen.

Forums and egroups are great ways to know what the people in your niche think and feel about new news and products in your niche. It is also a great way to find out what needs are not being met for them. You can help your niche and yaffiliate marketing | affiliate | niche marketing | blogging toolsourself by finding (or creating…) a product that solves a problem that is not being solved, or meeting some other need that is not being met.

You can also see what they think of news in your niche, and what products it might suggest, and what they think of currently available products. If they are particularly skeptical or resentful of current efforts to market to them, take note and avoid other marketers’ mistakes when you make your own efforts which in return will help your affiliate marketing success tremendously.

Make use of social bookmarking sites.  Most affiliate marketers know how useful social bookmarking sites can be for driving traffic to their pages. However, these sites can also help you stay current with your niche.

If you have not joined one of these sites already, go ahead and join one. Stumbleupon and Digg are two of the most popular, but they are far from the only ones. A little research will let you know which site might be best for your particular niche. Find others with your interests and add them to your list. Join any special interest groups that may be available.

When you join a social bookmarking site, you open yourself up to news you may not have otherwise stumbled across. In addition, most of these sites let users add comments to the bookmarks, letting you see what your niche thinks about current news, products, etc.

Sign up for news feeds in your niche.  If you can find a news feed specifically related to your niche, then great. Even if you can’t, most major news services, like CNN, ABC News, BBC, USA Today, have news feeds you can skim every day to see if there is anything related to your niche, hence relevant to your affiliate marketing campaigns.

Even news not specifically related to your niche may be related to its broader parent-market. There are several advantages to keeping up with this.

First, a lot of marketers in your field probably are not keeping up with news feeds. By noticing things in the news, you can get a jump on up-and-coming trends in your specialty.

Another way to use related news feeds is to social bookmark them. This has a number of benefits. First, it helps your standing in your social bookmarking community. You become someone who provides value and is up on the latest news and trends. This can get you both respect, and a wider readership.

Secondly, you can view other users’ comments to the news items you have bookmarked, and once again get feedback from your niche prospects.

These simple tips won’t take much time out of your day, but they can really help you leverage your affiliate marketing efforts if you make use of them consistently.
