SEO Techniques – Do it Right

Deciding not to use an SEO professional for your website is a big step. It means that you now have to figure it all out on your own. Once you start researching, you can easily become confused and overwhelmed by the sheer volume of SEO information you find. Search Engine Optimization encompasses several areas, and it is much easier to break them down and deal with each area individually.

Let’s start with the design of your web pages. Professionalism is crucial. Your overall design should portray seriousness, but still be unique. Avoid using flashy colors and loud detailing. Simple designs are preferred by both readers and search engines.

Your text formatting is also a part of the design of your web pages, and your text format should be simple as well. Use a common font, like Times New Roman or Arial. Put your titles in bold print. Keep your text size average, between 10 and 12 point.

The next area is the content of your web pages. When you are writing your content, write for the readers not the search engines. Your content should make sense and follow a logical flow. Content should stay on topic and be related to your website’s purpose. Write as though you are speaking to someone directly; be war, and inviting.

Tied in with content are the keywords that you use. Keywords are one of the most important things for search engines. The keywords that you use should be relevant but also thoroughly researched. Your main keywords need to be highly searched while your secondary keywords should be relevant to your main keywords. Use the main keywords in the title, in the first 50 words, and the evenly throughout the rest of the content’s body. Secondary keywords should be spread throughout evenly. It is important not to misuse or over-use keywords. Maintain a 1.5% to 2% density range.

As with all other aspects, tags are important. The tags help search engines index your page content better. Header tags (H1, H2, etc.) are basically just heading levels and the specific keywords that you use in those levels. The main title of the page is the H1 level.
Subtitles are in the levels that follow. Tags are actually quite similar to using the keywords themselves. Main keywords should be included within the H1 tags. Secondary keywords can be used in the subtitle header tags.

Linking in an aspect found in both on-page SEO and off-page SEO. With on-page SEO, linking revolves around the internal and external URLs that you have included in your pages. For the internal links, you are simply linking one page to another within your website, while external links are the ones that you provide that lead readers to other sites, like maybe another website that you own, a blog, or even a partner site. With off-page SEO, the linking is actually referring to back linking. What this means is that you are providing links to your site-to a specific page-through external means. Back linking is often done through article marketing and submission sites, social networking, and posting classified ads. Quality links help put your web pages in the radar of the search engines.

When it comes to SEO, every aspect needs the same amount of attention. Unfortunately, SEO efforts fail when people don’t have enough information to do things right. It’s better to start fresh, when you first set up a website. If you have your website up and running, however, it’s not too late; you just need to create an effective SEO campaign.

Search Engine Optimization, or SEO, is vital to the success of a website or blog. In simple terms, you are looking to create optimal conditions within your pages for search engines and how you rank with them. This, in turn, determines how visible your website is to readers. When it comes to your website and potential profits, flying through by the seat of your pants isn’t that great of a plan. There are many SEO services out there. Unfortunately, although there are a few services that work, most fall way too short of their promises. Instead of taking such a huge risk with your business, you can use an SEO software program and take charge of your own SEO efforts. There are two types of SEO software: Off-page and On-page.

    Off-page SEO Software

Off-page SEO software can be a bit more helpful than on-page SEO software. With off-page optimizing, the software builds two way and in-bound links to help improve your website’s link popularity. It works to manage pay-per-click advertising and directory submissions. The off-page SEO software also uses anchor text for links that are keyword rich.

    On-page SEO Software

In comparison, on-page SEO software deals specifically with optimizing the content of your web pages. On-page SEO software deals with your title and Meta tags, as well as other important tags like the H1 and H2 tags. Keyword density and internal links are maintained.

    Choosing Your SEO Software

The coveted ranking spot within search engine results is the first page. Websites listed on the first page are the most relevant based on the keywords used. Studies have shown that the majority of readers will not go any further than the first page when searching for something. Your SEO software should help your website reach this rank. That said, there are five criteria to consider for choosing SEO software.

    1. Your Computer’s Operating System

Obviously, an SEO software program only for Linux won’t work with Windows. You would be wasting money of you purchased one that doesn’t work on your computer. Always check the software’s compatibility with your operating system.

    2. Available Functions

What exactly does the SEO software provide? Ideal SEO software will give you a broad range of tools to handle each aspect of optimization. Focus on specific areas of optimizing that you know to have issues and choose software that provides the tools needed to repair those issues.

    3. Ease of Use

How complicated is the software? Regardless of whether you’re a newbie or an SEO expert, the SEO software that you choose shouldn’t have you staring at your screen and scratching your head in confusion. The ideal SEO software is easy enough for a beginner to use but still provides advanced options for experts.

    4. Extras

What extra features does the SEO software have? While not all software provides any extras, some versions will give you access to a select few additional ones. Most commonly you can find that many SEO software versions can supply you with detailed reporting.

    5. Cost

Ultimately, it all comes down to cost. You don’t want to pay an arm and a leg for SEO software. The market is highly competitive, so prices will vary depending on the previous four criteria. When you have more comprehensive SEO software, you can expect a higher price. Keep in mind that if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Email marketing has been used as a marketing technique for many years. It is considered to be the electronic equivalent to mailing circulars and newsletters to businesses and homes. For your professional needs, email marketing can be a valuable asset. If you plan your campaign properly, you can build an extensive network which is extremely beneficial to your business and its profits.

Your first step is to start building your email marketing list. The first addition to your list will be your current and previous customers. As you receive requests for information, add these emails to your list. If you’re smart about how you draw your emails, you will have an extensive list started in a short period. You can also choose to purchase email contact lists from marketing companies based on your target criteria.

Your next step is to add an opt-in form on your website and/or blog. This opt-in is a great way to capture email addresses for your campaign. You can offer registration for updates and special offers. Your opt-in should be visible to visitors, ideally located at the top or middle of the web page.

Newsletters are a good way to draw in customers for email marketing. Visitors will come to your site and see that you offer a newsletter, by subscription, directly to their email inbox. Your newsletter should be completely relevant to your product or service and a new one should be sent regularly. You can send a new newsletter weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.

Make sure that the email messages you create for your email marketing campaign are written and designed well. Provide well-researched information. Avoid being too technical and confusing. Balance the messages evenly between relevant information and promoting what you’re offering. You should focus more on the quality of your message instead of trying to hard sell something.

Your subject line is a crucial part of any messages you use in email marketing. The subject line is the first thing readers see. If your subject line does not entice a reader, it will go straight into the trash bin without being read.

The structure of your email messages is also important. Your messages should be easy on the eyes. Avoid messy clutter. Simple designs are always better. If you include images, they should also be simple, so they load quickly. Make sure that your messages provide your contact information and a logo if you have one.

Finally, spruce up your email marketing lists regularly. Remove any addresses that don’t work. You should also remove any email addresses immediately after receiving a request to do so. Don’t fret over losing the contacts. They can be replaced quickly and easily.

Email marketing doesn’t take a lot of upkeep. The initial effort will take more time than any of it. If you take the time to set things up properly from the beginning, your success will come much easier as time passes. There is a broad range of tools and software programs that can help you with your effort in making your email marketing campaign work for you the way that you want.

When Internet marketing rose in popularity, email marketing was one of the main ways of promoting a website. When spam problems started causing a ripple in the effectiveness of email marketing, autoresponders weren’t used as frequently anymore. Autoresponders started out as a means of mass mailing for future and current customers in email marketing, but when a decline in the use of email marketing occurred, the need for autoresponders also fell.

When the general public became ensnared by blogging, it wasn’t long before entrepreneurs, affiliate marketers and other business owners started using blogs as promotional aids for their company’s website. As a result to this demand, there are now many different ways that your blog can be used, and autoresponders come into play again. Autoresponders can be used with blogs just as they were used for email marketing. The whole function of an autoresponder is to capture email addresses and then use those lists to send emails in bulk.

One of the most common ways to use an autoresponder with a blog is through an opt-in option; this is generally the only way that you can obtain a potential customer’s email address and name that doesn’t result in getting reported for spam. An opt-in allows readers to subscribe to something specific you are offering, using a name and email address. You can use the opt-in to offer updates when you post something new on the blog. You can also use an opt-in to offer free newsletters or access to an article series you have written. There are also some bloggers that use the opt-in option to provide free e-books of interest to people who subscribe.

Your blog has the purpose of sending interested readers to your website where they can purchase the products or services you offer. The idea of a blog is that you are providing valuable information that will help people decide. The blog, unlike your website, is a means of establishing a customer base. By using an autoresponder, you are turning an interested reader into a possible customer. You can use the email lists to keep these possible customers up to date with the latest specials, new products and freebies that you are offering.

The very nature of doing business through the Internet is quite impersonal. In most cases, the buyer and seller know very little about one another. As a seller it is important to create a sense of who you are or what your business is all about. The only way to accomplish that is through consistent contact. Don’t start out pummeling email with hard sales; in fact, don’t do it at all. These people signed up for something in particular so make sure that providing this is your first priority. Send an initial email to new addresses that thanks them for signing up and use this to introduce yourself. You can preprogram your autoresponder to automatically send this after someone submits their information into the opt-in form. Stay in contact-about once a week-unless you have made important changes. Mix your messages up; send information in between your sales messages.

Your blog content is a vital part of your blog. Without posts, you don’t really have a blog at all. Your blog posts are what you use to provide readers – potential customers – with information related to the products or services you offer. Some people use blogs to generate website traffic. Other people use them to promote affiliate products. Finally, there are a few bloggers that are only interested in pay per click income. In any one of these situations, the content you write is crucial; it keeps your readers engaged, makes them want to return, and can help them make an informed purchasing decision.

    What do you write about?

When you have decided what purpose your blog will have and you have chosen the general topic, you need to do some research first. Start by making a list of topics and sub-topics within your general topic area. You will also need to research specific keywords to use for each topic and sub-topic on your list. You can then compile your research and write your posts.

What should your blog posts look like?

For starters, they should be short. An average post should range between 400 and 500 words. Use bulleted lists to summarize important points. Most readers are skimmers; they scan the post looking for anything that sticks out before they decide to read the whole thing. Bulleted lists stand out.

Your titles should stand out as well. In addition to the bulleted lists, readers look at the titles of your posts for cues. If the title doesn’t stand out and is not relevant to the information readers are looking for, chances are good that your readers won’t hang around long.

    Originality is crucial.

It is extremely crucial for all your content to be your own. Don’t steal the work of other writers. If you need to use specific wording, out it in quotations and include a link to the information you quoted. This is good for your image, but it is also good for search engines. One of the main things that search engines look for with content is duplication. If you aren’t providing links to the information that you quoted, you will get flagged for duplicate content. You can always check your writing with a plagiarism checker. Most versions are web-based and free. They will check the popular search engines across the span of the Internet for related content and exact wording matches. Don’t be alarmed if your initial results are high; you will simply need to adjust the minimum number of consecutive words that are detected.

Once you write your first few posts, it will become much easier for you. You will learn how to effectively research without consuming too much valuable time. You will also establish a writing style all your own, which gives your readers a sense of character. The goal is to connect with the readers through your writing, comments, and replies. If you are using your blog as a promotional tool, this can show your potential customers that there is a real person that is involved. For individual blogs that are not used for marketing, your posts and your writing style will determine how many visits your blog gets.
